Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars that typically emerge in late adolescence or early adulthood, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. They are located at the back of the mouth and can sometimes cause dental issues due to lack of space. Many people have them removed to prevent overcrowding or impaction, which can lead to pain and infection.
These teeth are considered vestigial, meaning they were once useful for our ancestors who had a diet requiring more chewing power. Today, with changes in diet and dental care, wisdom teeth often serve little purpose and can lead to complications if they do not fully erupt.
