Wisconsin Tribes
Wisconsin is home to eleven federally recognized tribes, each with its own unique culture and history. These tribes include the Ojibwe, Oneida, Menominee, Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk, among others. They have lived in the region for thousands of years, maintaining their traditions and languages while adapting to modern society.
The tribes engage in various economic activities, including gaming, tourism, and natural resource management. They also work to preserve their cultural heritage through education and community programs. Each tribe contributes to Wisconsin's rich cultural diversity and plays a vital role in the state's history and identity.
