Winterberry
Winterberry is a deciduous holly species known scientifically as Ilex verticillata. It is native to North America and typically grows in wetland areas, such as swamps and along riverbanks. The plant can reach heights of 3 to 12 feet and features glossy green leaves that turn yellow in the fall.
In late summer and fall, Winterberry produces bright red berries that persist into winter, providing food for birds and other wildlife. The berries are not edible for humans but are popular in holiday decorations. This plant is often used in landscaping for its ornamental value and seasonal interest.
