Winter Wren
The Winter Wren is a small, brown bird known for its distinctive, cheerful song. It typically measures about 4 to 5 inches in length and has a short tail that is often held upright. This bird is found in dense, shrubby habitats, particularly in forests and near water sources, where it forages for insects and other small invertebrates.
During the breeding season, the Winter Wren can be found in parts of North America, including the eastern United States and Canada. In winter, it migrates to the southern U.S. and parts of Mexico. Its secretive nature and preference for thick cover make it challenging to spot, but its melodious call is often heard in its habitat.
