Williche
The Williche are an indigenous people from southern Chile, primarily located in the region of Los Lagos. They are part of the larger Mapuche cultural group and have their own distinct language and traditions. Historically, the Williche have relied on fishing, agriculture, and animal husbandry for their livelihoods, adapting to the rich natural resources of their environment.
Today, the Williche community continues to preserve their cultural heritage while facing modern challenges. Efforts are being made to revitalize their language and traditions, as well as to advocate for their rights and land. The Williche identity remains an important aspect of the broader Mapuche struggle for recognition and autonomy.
