William Tryon
William Tryon was a British colonial administrator who served as the Governor of the Province of North Carolina from 1765 to 1771 and later as the Governor of the Province of New York from 1771 to 1780. He was known for his efforts to improve the economy and infrastructure of the colonies, including the construction of roads and public buildings.
Tryon is often remembered for his role in the Regulator Movement, a rebellion in North Carolina against colonial officials and taxation. His administration faced challenges, including tensions with local settlers and conflicts with the growing revolutionary sentiment leading up to the American Revolution.
