William Huggins
William Huggins was a prominent British astronomer born on February 7, 1824. He is best known for his pioneering work in astrophysics, particularly in the study of stellar spectra. Huggins utilized a spectroscope to analyze the light from stars, which allowed him to determine their composition and temperature.
In addition to his work on stellar spectra, Huggins made significant contributions to the understanding of nebulae and the structure of the Milky Way. He was a member of the Royal Society and received several awards for his contributions to astronomy. Huggins passed away on May 12, 1910.
