Wild Bactrian Camel
The Wild Bactrian Camel is a rare species native to the deserts of northwestern China and southwestern Mongolia. Unlike its domestic relatives, it has two humps and is well-adapted to extreme environments, including high salinity and arid conditions. This camel can survive without water for long periods and can drink salty water, making it unique among camel species.
Currently, the Wild Bactrian Camel is classified as critically endangered, with only a few hundred individuals remaining in the wild. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its habitat and ensure the survival of this remarkable animal, which plays a vital role in its ecosystem.
