Whole Step
A "Whole Step" is a musical interval that spans two half steps, which is the distance between two adjacent keys on a piano. For example, moving from C to D is a whole step, as it skips the C# key in between. Whole steps are fundamental in creating scales and melodies in music.
In the context of the major scale, whole steps are used to define the pattern of notes. For instance, the C major scale consists of the notes C, D, E, F, G, A, and B, where the intervals between C and D, D and E, F and G, and G and A are all whole steps.
