Whitefish Point Light
Whitefish Point Light is a historic lighthouse located on the northern shore of Lake Superior in Michigan. Built in 1849, it stands at 65 feet tall and is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes. The light was crucial for guiding ships through the often treacherous waters of the area, especially during the shipping season.
The lighthouse is part of the Whitefish Point Light Station and is now a popular tourist destination. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and learn about its history at the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, which is nearby and highlights the maritime history of the region.
