White-tailed Ptarmigan
The White-tailed Ptarmigan is a small bird found in the mountainous regions of North America, particularly in the Rocky Mountains and parts of Alaska. It is well-adapted to cold environments, with feathers that change color with the seasons. In summer, it has a mottled brown plumage for camouflage, while in winter, it turns white to blend in with the snow.
This bird primarily feeds on a diet of leaves, buds, and seeds, foraging on the ground. The White-tailed Ptarmigan is known for its distinctive short tail and rounded body, making it a unique member of the grouse family.
