Whimbrel
The Whimbrel is a large shorebird belonging to the sandpiper family, known for its long, curved bill. It typically measures about 16 to 20 inches in length and has a wingspan of around 30 inches. Whimbrels are often found in coastal areas, marshes, and mudflats, where they feed on invertebrates, crustaceans, and small fish.
These birds are migratory, traveling long distances between their breeding grounds in the Arctic and wintering habitats in warmer regions, such as parts of South America. Their distinctive call and striking plumage make them a favorite among birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
