Wh-Movement
Wh-Movement is a linguistic phenomenon where a question word, such as "who," "what," or "where," is moved to the beginning of a sentence. This movement helps to form questions or relative clauses, making it clear what information is being sought. For example, in the question "What did you see?" the word "what" is moved to the front to indicate the subject of inquiry.
This process is common in many languages, including English, and is essential for understanding how questions are structured. Wh-Movement can also occur in embedded clauses, as in "I wonder what you saw," where "what" still plays a crucial role in conveying the intended meaning.
