Westberlin
Westberlin was a political and geographical entity during the Cold War, existing from 1949 until 1990. It was a part of West Germany but was surrounded by East Berlin and East Germany. This unique situation made it a focal point of tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, symbolizing the division of Europe.
The city was known for its vibrant culture, diverse population, and significant historical events, including the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961. Westberlin served as a refuge for many fleeing from East Germany and became a hub for artists, musicians, and political activists.
