West Virginia State Legislature
The West Virginia State Legislature is the legislative body of the state of West Virginia. It consists of two chambers: the West Virginia House of Delegates and the West Virginia Senate. Together, these chambers are responsible for creating and passing state laws, as well as overseeing the state budget and other important matters.
The legislature meets annually in Charleston, the state capital, typically starting in January. Each chamber has its own leadership, including a Speaker for the House and a President for the Senate. Members of the legislature are elected by the citizens of West Virginia to represent their interests and concerns.
