West Somerset Railway
The West Somerset Railway is a heritage railway located in the county of Somerset, England. It runs for approximately 20 miles between the towns of Bishops Lydeard and Minehead, offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside and the Quantock Hills. The railway operates steam and diesel trains, providing a nostalgic experience for visitors.
Originally part of the West Somerset Railway that opened in 1862, the line was closed to regular passenger services in 1971. It was later preserved and reopened as a heritage railway in 1976, allowing people to enjoy the charm of vintage trains and the history of rail travel in the region.
