Welirang volcanic complex
The Welirang volcanic complex is located in East Java, Indonesia. It consists of several volcanic peaks, with the most prominent being Mount Welirang, which reaches an elevation of 3,156 meters. The complex is part of the Sunda Arc, a chain of volcanoes formed by the subduction of the Australian Plate beneath the Eurasian Plate.
The area is characterized by its geothermal activity, including hot springs and fumaroles. The last significant eruption of the Welirang complex occurred in 1968, although it remains an active volcanic region. The surrounding landscape is rich in biodiversity, making it an important ecological area in Indonesia.
