Tengger
The Tengger are an indigenous ethnic group in Indonesia, primarily residing in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java. They are known for their unique culture, which blends elements of Hinduism and local beliefs. The Tengger people are also recognized for their agricultural practices, particularly in cultivating rice and other crops in the mountainous terrain.
One of the most notable aspects of Tengger culture is the annual Yadnya Kasada festival, where they offer sacrifices to the Mount Bromo volcano. This event attracts many visitors and showcases the Tengger's deep connection to their land and traditions. Their language, also called Tengger, is part of the larger Malayo-Polynesian language family.
