Weak AI
Weak AI, also known as narrow AI, refers to artificial intelligence systems designed to perform specific tasks without possessing general intelligence. These systems can excel in their designated functions, such as language translation, image recognition, or playing games like Chess or Go, but they lack the ability to understand or reason beyond their programmed capabilities.
Unlike strong AI, which aims to replicate human-like cognitive abilities, weak AI operates within predefined parameters. Examples include virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa, which can respond to voice commands but do not possess self-awareness or consciousness. Their effectiveness is limited to the tasks they are designed to handle.
