Wave Hill Station
Wave Hill Station is a large cattle station located in the Northern Territory of Australia. It covers an area of approximately 5,000 square kilometers and is known for its vast landscapes and diverse wildlife. The station primarily raises cattle for beef production and has a rich history dating back to its establishment in the 1880s.
In 1966, Wave Hill Station became significant in Australian history when the Gurindji people, led by Vincent Lingiari, staged a walk-off to protest for land rights and better working conditions. This event marked a pivotal moment in the Indigenous land rights movement in Australia, leading to greater recognition of Indigenous rights.
