Water Repellent Fabrics
Water repellent fabrics are specially treated materials designed to resist water penetration. These fabrics are often used in outdoor clothing, gear, and accessories to keep the wearer dry in wet conditions. The treatment typically involves applying a durable water repellent (DWR) finish that causes water to bead up and roll off the surface.
Common examples of water repellent fabrics include nylon, polyester, and Gore-Tex. While these materials can resist light rain and moisture, they are not completely waterproof. Over time, the effectiveness of the water repellent treatment can diminish, requiring reapplication to maintain performance.
