Water Flooding
Water flooding occurs when an area is submerged in water, often due to heavy rainfall, melting snow, or storm surges. This excess water can overwhelm rivers, lakes, and drainage systems, leading to the overflow of these bodies of water into surrounding land. Flooding can happen suddenly, known as flash flooding, or develop more gradually over time.
Flooding can cause significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and ecosystems. It can lead to the displacement of people and the loss of property. Emergency services often respond to flooding events to assist affected communities and provide relief, while organizations like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) work to manage disaster response and recovery efforts.
