Warften
Warften are artificial mounds or elevated areas found primarily in the North Sea region, particularly in Friesland and East Frisia in Germany. They were historically constructed to provide safe living spaces above the flood-prone marshlands and to protect against rising water levels.
These mounds often served as the foundation for homes, farms, and community structures. Over time, many Warften became central to local settlements, contributing to the unique cultural and agricultural practices of the region. Today, they are recognized for their historical significance and are often preserved as part of the area's heritage.
