War of Currents
The "War of Currents" was a late 19th-century battle between two electrical systems: Thomas Edison's direct current (DC) and Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse's alternating current (AC). Edison promoted DC as the safer option for electrical power distribution, while Tesla and Westinghouse argued that AC could transmit electricity over longer distances more efficiently.
This conflict included public demonstrations and marketing campaigns, with Edison even staging events to showcase the dangers of AC. Ultimately, AC became the dominant system for electrical power distribution, leading to its widespread adoption in homes and industries around the world.
