Wampus
The Wampus is a mythical creature from American folklore, particularly associated with the southern United States. It is often described as a large, cat-like animal, sometimes resembling a mountain lion or a panther. The Wampus is said to be a shape-shifter, capable of transforming into a human form, and is often linked to stories of women who have been wronged or betrayed.
In some tales, the Wampus is portrayed as a protective spirit, guarding the woods and the animals within them. It is also connected to the Cherokee tribe, where it is believed to embody the spirit of a woman who sought revenge for her husband's infidelity. The Wampus remains a popular figure in regional folklore and storytelling.
