Walker Air Force Base
Walker Air Force Base was a military installation located in Roswell, New Mexico. Established in 1941, it played a significant role during World War II and the Cold War, primarily serving as a base for strategic bomber operations. The base was named after General Thomas H. Walker and was home to various aircraft, including the B-29 Superfortress.
The base was officially closed in 1967, and its facilities were repurposed for civilian use. Today, the site is known as the Roswell International Air Center, which supports commercial aviation and serves as a hub for various businesses and organizations in the region.
