Volume Groups
A Volume Group is a storage management concept used in computer systems, particularly in the context of Logical Volume Management (LVM). It allows multiple physical storage devices, such as hard drives or SSDs, to be combined into a single logical unit. This makes it easier to manage storage space, as users can allocate and resize storage as needed without worrying about the underlying physical devices.
Within a Volume Group, users can create Logical Volumes, which act like partitions that can be formatted and used for data storage. This flexibility enables efficient use of available storage and simplifies tasks like backups and system migrations, enhancing overall data management.
