Volcán de Izalco
Volcán de Izalco is a stratovolcano located in El Salvador, known for its conical shape and frequent eruptions. It first erupted in 1770 and became famous for its regular activity, earning the nickname "Lighthouse of the Pacific" due to its visible eruptions from ships at sea. The volcano is part of the Cerro Verde National Park and stands at an elevation of 1,950 meters (6,398 feet).
The last significant eruption occurred in 1958, after which the volcano has remained dormant. Today, Volcán de Izalco is a popular destination for hikers and tourists, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and nearby Lake Coatepeque.
