Vietnam del Sur, or South Vietnam, was a country in Southeast Asia that existed from 1955 until 1975. It was established after the division of Vietnam at the 17th parallel following the Geneva Accords. The capital was Saigon, and the government was a republic supported by the United States during the Vietnam War.
The region faced significant conflict during its existence, primarily due to the struggle between the communist forces of North Vietnam and the anti-communist government of South Vietnam. The war ended in 1975 when North Vietnam captured Saigon, leading to the reunification of Vietnam.
