Vienna Stadtbahn
The Vienna Stadtbahn is a former railway system in Vienna, Austria, designed to connect the city with its suburbs. It was built between 1894 and 1901 and primarily served as an elevated railway, allowing for efficient transportation without disrupting street traffic.
In 1981, the Stadtbahn was largely replaced by the Vienna U-Bahn, or subway system, which expanded the city's public transport network. Some sections of the original Stadtbahn lines were integrated into the U-Bahn, while others continue to operate as part of the S-Bahn, or suburban train system, enhancing connectivity in the region.
