Vidhan Parishad
The Vidhan Parishad is the upper house of the bicameral legislature in some Indian states, similar to the Rajya Sabha at the national level. It plays a crucial role in the legislative process by reviewing and suggesting amendments to bills passed by the lower house, known as the Vidhan Sabha. Members of the Vidhan Parishad are elected through various methods, including local authority elections and appointments by the governor.
Established under the Constitution of India, the Vidhan Parishad aims to provide representation to various sections of society, including education and local governance. Each state with a Vidhan Parishad has a different number of members, and its functioning is guided by rules and procedures set by the state government.
