Victor Babeș
Victor Babeș was a prominent Romanian bacteriologist and pathologist, born on July 28, 1854, in Bucharest. He is best known for his significant contributions to the field of microbiology, particularly in the study of infectious diseases. Babeș was a pioneer in the development of vaccines and made important discoveries related to the tuberculosis bacterium.
In addition to his research, Babeș played a crucial role in establishing medical education in Romania. He founded the University of Cluj and served as its first rector.
