Viasat-1
Viasat-1 is a communications satellite launched on October 20, 2011. It was designed to provide high-speed internet services, particularly to rural and underserved areas in the United States. With a capacity of 140 Gbps, it was one of the first satellites to offer broadband service via satellite technology.
The satellite operates in the Ka-band frequency range, allowing for faster data transmission compared to traditional Ku-band satellites. Viasat, Inc., the company behind Viasat-1, aimed to enhance connectivity for residential, commercial, and government users, making internet access more widely available.
