Vela Pulsar
The Vela Pulsar is a highly magnetized, rotating neutron star that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation. Located about 1,000 light-years away in the Vela constellation, it was discovered in 1968. Pulsars like Vela are remnants of massive stars that have undergone supernova explosions, collapsing into incredibly dense objects.
Vela Pulsar rotates approximately 11 times per second, producing regular pulses of radiation that can be detected on Earth. It is one of the brightest pulsars known and serves as an important object of study in astrophysics, helping scientists understand the behavior of matter under extreme conditions.
