Varun (Water)
Varun, also known as Varuna, is a significant deity in Hindu mythology, representing the element of water. He is often depicted as a god of the oceans, rivers, and all bodies of water, symbolizing the vastness and depth of the aquatic realm. Varun is associated with the celestial waters and is considered a guardian of cosmic order, overseeing the moral and ethical conduct of humans.
In ancient texts, Varun is described as a powerful figure who wields a noose to capture wrongdoers and maintain justice. He is also linked to the night sky and is sometimes depicted riding a mythical creature, the Makara, which resembles a crocodile or sea monster. Varun's influence extends to rituals and prayers, where he is invoked for rain and the well-being of aquatic life.
