Valley Oak
The Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) is a large deciduous tree native to California. It can grow up to 80 feet tall and has a broad, spreading canopy. The tree is known for its deeply lobed leaves and acorns, which are an important food source for various wildlife, including birds and mammals.
Valley Oaks thrive in open grasslands and along riverbanks, often found in areas with well-drained soil. They are well-adapted to the Mediterranean climate, enduring hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This species plays a crucial role in its ecosystem, providing habitat and shade for numerous organisms.
