Utøya
Utøya is a small island located in the Tyrifjorden lake in Norway. It is known for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming. The island is also home to a youth camp run by the Norwegian Labour Party, which has been a significant part of its history.
In 2011, Utøya became the site of a tragic event when a mass shooting occurred during a youth camp, resulting in the deaths of 69 people. This incident, carried out by Anders Behring Breivik, had a profound impact on Norway and led to discussions about security, extremism, and the importance of tolerance in society.
