Ursuline order
The Ursuline Order is a Roman Catholic religious order founded in 1535 by Saint Angela Merici in Brescia, Italy. It is primarily dedicated to the education of girls and the care of the poor. The Ursulines were the first teaching order of women in the Church and have played a significant role in the development of female education.
Members of the Ursuline Order, known as Ursulines, take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. They operate schools, colleges, and other educational institutions worldwide, emphasizing moral and spiritual development alongside academic achievement. The order has a strong presence in many countries, contributing to the advancement of women's education.
