Saint Angela Merici
Saint Angela Merici was an Italian saint born in 1474 in Desenzano del Garda. She is best known for founding the Ursuline Order, the first teaching order of women in the Catholic Church. Angela dedicated her life to the education and spiritual development of young girls, emphasizing the importance of faith and knowledge.
In 1535, she established the Company of Saint Ursula, which focused on providing education and support to girls. Angela Merici's work laid the foundation for modern Catholic education, and she was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius VII in 1807. Her feast day is celebrated on January 27.
