Upper Mantle
The Upper Mantle is a layer of the Earth's interior located just below the crust and extends to about 410 kilometers deep. It is primarily composed of solid rock, including minerals like olivine and pyroxene. This layer plays a crucial role in tectonic activity, as it is involved in the movement of the Earth's plates.
The Upper Mantle is part of the larger Mantle, which is divided into the Upper and Lower Mantle. The temperature in this region increases with depth, reaching up to 1,500 degrees Celsius. The Upper Mantle also contains the asthenosphere, a semi-fluid layer that allows for the movement of tectonic plates.
