United States Antarctic Service Expedition
The United States Antarctic Service Expedition (USASE) took place from 1939 to 1941 and was a significant scientific mission to explore and study Antarctica. Organized by the United States government, the expedition aimed to gather data on the continent's geography, geology, and biology. It was the first major U.S. expedition to Antarctica since the Byrd Antarctic Expedition in the 1930s.
Led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd, the USASE included several research stations and involved numerous scientists and support personnel. The expedition contributed valuable knowledge about the Antarctic environment and laid the groundwork for future research and exploration in the region.
