United Provinces of Central America
The United Provinces of Central America was a short-lived federation that existed from 1823 to 1838. It was formed after the independence of Central American countries from Spanish rule, uniting the regions of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. The federation aimed to create a stable political and economic environment but faced internal conflicts and regional rivalries.
Despite its initial promise, the federation struggled with governance and unity. By the late 1830s, the provinces began to dissolve the federation, leading to the establishment of independent nations. This period significantly shaped the political landscape of modern Central America.
