United Nations Emergency Force
The United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) was established in 1956 in response to the Suez Crisis. Its primary purpose was to maintain peace and order in the region by deploying international troops to separate conflicting parties. This marked the first large-scale armed peacekeeping mission by the United Nations.
UNEF played a crucial role in stabilizing the situation and facilitating the withdrawal of invading forces. The mission demonstrated the effectiveness of international cooperation in conflict resolution and set a precedent for future peacekeeping operations under the United Nations banner.
