Ukrainian New Year
Ukrainian New Year, known as Novy God, is celebrated on January 1st, aligning with the Gregorian calendar. It is a festive occasion marked by family gatherings, special meals, and various traditions. Many people decorate their homes with New Year trees and lights, similar to Christmas celebrations.
In Ukraine, traditional dishes such as Olivier salad and herring under a fur coat are commonly served during the New Year feast. Fireworks and parties are popular, and children often receive gifts from Ded Moroz, the Ukrainian version of Santa Claus, who brings joy and excitement to the festivities.
