Ded Moroz
Ded Moroz, also known as Grandfather Frost, is a traditional figure in Slavic folklore who brings gifts to children during the winter holidays. He is often depicted as a tall, elderly man with a long white beard, dressed in a fur coat and a hat. Ded Moroz is commonly associated with the New Year celebrations rather than Christmas, which is celebrated on January 7 in many Slavic countries.
Accompanying Ded Moroz is Snegurochka, or the Snow Maiden, who is often portrayed as his granddaughter. Together, they visit homes and public celebrations, spreading joy and delivering presents. Ded Moroz has become a symbol of winter festivities in countries like Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
