The Udayagiri Caves are a group of rock-cut caves located in the Udayagiri hills of Madhya Pradesh, India. Dating back to the 2nd century BCE, these caves are significant for their historical and archaeological value. They feature intricate carvings and inscriptions that reflect the art and culture of ancient India.
Among the caves, the most notable is Cave 1, which contains a large sculpture of Lord Vishnu in a reclining position. The caves served as monastic retreats for Buddhist monks and are an important site for understanding the region's religious history.
