USS Tautog
The USS Tautog (SS-199) was a United States Navy submarine that served during World War II. Launched in 1940, it was named after the tautog fish, also known as the blackfish. The submarine was notable for its successful combat missions in the Pacific Theater, where it sank numerous enemy vessels.
Throughout its service, the USS Tautog earned several battle stars for its contributions to the war effort. After the war, it was decommissioned in 1946 and later scrapped in 1960.
