USS Tang
The USS Tang (SS-306) was a World War II submarine of the United States Navy, launched on 17 April 1943. It was a Gato-class submarine, designed for long-range missions and equipped with advanced torpedoes. The Tang was known for its successful combat operations in the Pacific Theater, sinking numerous enemy ships.
Under the command of Captain Richard H. O'Kane, the USS Tang completed five war patrols and earned several awards, including the Presidential Unit Citation. Tragically, the submarine was lost on 25 October 1944 due to a torpedo malfunction, marking a significant loss for the U.S. Navy.
