The USS Spence (DD-512) was a Gearing-class destroyer of the United States Navy, launched in 1944. It served during World War II and was known for its speed and firepower, participating in various naval operations in the Pacific Theater.
On December 18, 1944, the USS Spence sank during a typhoon in the Philippine Sea. The ship capsized due to severe weather conditions, resulting in the loss of 76 crew members. The wreck was later discovered, serving as a reminder of the dangers faced by naval vessels during wartime.
