USS Pyro (AE-4)
The USS Pyro (AE-4) was a munitions ship of the United States Navy, launched on 31 March 1944. It was designed to transport and supply ammunition to naval forces, playing a crucial role during World War II and the Korean War. The ship was named after the Greek word for fire, reflecting its mission to handle explosive materials safely.
After serving in various operations, the USS Pyro was decommissioned in 1970 and later sold for scrap. Throughout its service, it contributed to the logistics and support of naval operations, ensuring that ships like the USS Missouri (BB-63) and USS Enterprise (CV-6) were well-supplied.
